Reflection time

Hi folks!

Today, I want to share with you a very special post of this blog. This last post means the end of a project but the beginning of a new life. The Master's Degree is finishing and with it the subject ICTs in CLIL.

The journey has been really fun and interesting at the same time. Together with my classmates, I have learnt a lot, and which is the most important part, I met so amazing people doing this Masters. A good bye is always sad, but today I do not want to be sad. It has to be a happy day in whcih we will remember some of the activities done during this course. To be honest, some of these activities drived my crazy!! But in the end, I learnt from all of them, even the tricky ones.

In my view, the activities done along the semester are very useful to use for educational purposes. I am sure I will put into practice many of the activities learnt, such as the Twima project or the video recording. They are, from my point of view, the funniest and the easiest tasks to carry out with primary children.

In some cases, as I said before I got stuck. For example doing the comic. My godness!! It took me two free 15 days trial. Sometimes, it is just the time being, not the activity in itself. But other activities such as this Powtoon presentation are highly recommended doing it. I have enjoyed doing it, even in exams time!

If you ask me how the journey has been I have to say it's been incredible!

Firstly, we started creating an avatar to welcome our students in class. Here you can see Martic, my avatar, a teacher in Marsh. To create this character I used Voki, a free app for educational purposes. Then, we learnt how to use pictures with its creative commons. I wrote an entry about using pictures to explain the senses humans have in 2nd grade. The source of information to get pictures was Pixabay. I am sure that one day I will use it in real life.

We evidenced all our works by twitter. Here you can see some of my tweets about my learning through this subject.

But the real work started with Genially. Slideshows are very useful to teach in Primary Education, so we make a presentation to teach maps and location in 2nd grade. And also we recorded ourselves carrying out the presentation. A you can see here, I explain the details of this task.

The work did not end here, we learnt how to use mind maps to explain projects. I specifically used Coogle, a free mind map which offers attractive resources. You can check the result in this post. Amazing isn't it? Infographics are also a visual tool to present content. In this case I used Canva to create my infographic about how to make a research work in class. Pretty useful.

Sometimes I got stuck as I said earlies. This happens to me with creating a comic to deal with emotions. After a long time, I could finish it and got a cool idea as you can see here. For this project I used a visual website called Pixton. I will certainly use it in my proffesional life. We also had a webinar online about Digital Competence for Teachers

What is my best experience was making a flipped classroom using videos with chroma so as to se up our own backgrounds. First, we divided the class in groups, then we give out roles for the project and make the storyboard of the project. Once we had it, we recorded ourselves in different scenes talking about micromachism. The final outcome was very fun and rewarding. We used Movavi to edit the video.

Radio played an important role in this unit as we learnt podcasting for education. I designed a project about Irish recital Poems. So as to make the channel and the recordings I used Soundcloud. An app that I highly recommend. Before taking our hands on it, we made a Google drive doc to explain in detail de project.

And now it's time to present my final outcome, this artifact you can enjoy below. It is a meaningful presentation made with Powtoon. On it, you can see all my works made during the course year and my feelings about them. I really hope you like it because this app offers many opportunities to use in any subject. Here you can see the whole presentation.

On the whole, this subject is quite dense and useful for primary teachers. It gives us the ideas to apply in the classroom to develop XXI century tasks in school. By carrying out the activities on our own, enhances us our capacity to plan and prepare in advanced, which is very important in education.

Thanks of the subject, I can create meaningful and visual aids to support my teaching skills. Moreover, we engage students through these type of manipulated tasks using devices such as laptops, radio skills, cameras, etc. The most wonderful point of the ICT use is the possibilities it offers to connect it to different subjects, even in History, making a boring subject very attractive.

Regarding my progress along this course, I have to say that I am quite better at technologies, specially making presentations with funny programmes. I consider I have develop positive technological skills that willl help me to be better and be creative in this world of education. From now on, I will try to keep up in my technological skills so as to make a proffesional and a personal life easier and enjoyable.

I really hope you visit me sometime in Marsh. You and all your people are welcome to my Planet.

See you in my planet!

Now get ready your headphones!

Storyboard a video project

Hi folks! How are things going in The Earth? Here in Marsh we are all having a super duper week celebrating the World Book Day! As you know, the 23rd of April was the international day of the book. On April 23, 1616, Cervantes, Shakespeare and Garcilaso de la Vega died. Also on 23rd April, other important writers such as Maurice Druon, K. Laxness, Vladimir Nabokov, Josep Pla or Manuel Mejía Vallejo were born or died. This is the main reason there is a special day in our calendars on 23rd April.  I was telling you this because the other day, we were in class working on past times and how people were prevented from reading books about politics. My students got shocked when they found out that women could not read at all any kind of books years ago. So I decided to dedicate some of my time to work on Micromachism nowadays in our daily lives.  Micromachism is a hidden form of gender violence that include strategies, gestures, things, acts of everyday life that are subtle, almo

Irish Poems Recital

Hi folks! Welcome to a new entry of this learning journal. Did you know that last month the 17th of March was Saint Patrick's Day? Let me tell you a bit more about this festivity.  Saint Patrick's Day is a really big party for everything to do with the country, Ireland. Its people, art, religion and all the things Irish people like to do. This special day happens every year on March, 17, which marks the date when Saint Patrick, a catholic priest in charged of spreading the Christian word.  You might be wondering why I am telling you all these things. Well, in my school in Mars we are immersed on a radio- project related to Irish Poems. We have created a podcast in which students participate actively introducing themselves for a later on activity to podcast recitals of Irish poems. What it is very important is the use of ICTs in these kind of activities. Through the tool Soundcloud , we engage students to upload their own recordings in order to make a collection
