Hi folks!
Welcome to a new entry of the blog called mobile learning and digital competence for education. I will tell you a bit in detail what I am taking about.
As you know, I am Martic, I am a teacher in Marsh and the communication between The Earth and our planet is constantly flowing. Therefore, I have attended to an online conference for teachers about digital competence and how to cope with it as teachers. Here you can find the website the conference was held. We were attending to the webinar with other students from the Digital Learning (Universiat de Barcelona).
I found out many interesting things related to the digital competence and how to be a XXI century teacher. These courses are designed by proffesionals of the educational field who work from INTEF. INTEF is the website where you could find further information about the different courses online you can attend.

The most appealing aspect about the conference, at least, from my point of view, is the possibility teachers have to obtain and assess the level of digital competence and the chance to improve it along time with nice apps and websites.
There have been presented some ways to achieve a good level of digital competence such as Edupills, Noocs, Moocs, or Spoocs. These are great tools to self- assess and self- learn about digital competence in terms of educative purposes. There are designed by the team Intef and there are aimed at learning and growing digitally speaking. They have been created so as to foster the needs teachers have when dealing with digital issues and digital activities.
The first one treated was Edupills. It is a free app where you can have access to brief pills of digital learning about many topics related to education and digital purposes. The app is divided into two levels (A1/2- basic and B1/2- intermediate). The app offers short explanations and practical topics related with the digital competence that last between 3- 7 minutes. The most important function of these pills is getting us, teachers, motivated and make us consider and think further when using ICTs in the classroom.
The other ones, such as Nooc and Mooc, are a bit different since they are aimed at targeting each digital competence completely. Each course has the goal to reach one digital competence. The Noocs are a bit shorter and new brand than the Moocs. But they are pretty similar in terms of functionality. They are great because they are FREE! You also have a facilitator in the Nooc and a team in Mooc, that helps you generally if you have any issue. How are they proved? They are proved by a digital insignia (not certified).
The experts recommend using a learning diary to keep the learning up and share your experiences with others. This blog is an example of my digital learning experience.
Another group of courses online is Spooc. Contrary to Noocs/ Moocs, these courses are open forever, they have not a limit of time. They are quite speficic on the field and on each digital competence.
The final tool to mention is the portfolio for the digital competence of teachers. This online tool is intended to prove the digital levels of competence for teachers, you can visit the common framework of digital competence here. The peer work is essential to improve and learn progressively. It is an official site where you can share your experiences and your abilities of digital competence as a teacher. The main objective of the Portfolio is to self-assess the digital competence learning. Moreover, if you want to certify the level of digital competence, you can do it by badges. However, there are given to you according to your projects, your learning, your experiences along a year. The most important view is improving. If you have any issue about the digital portfolio, check some of the frequent questions.
If I had to choose one of them, I would go firstly to Edupills since I am not an expert and I need some help with the ICTs. They are free, short and you can carry them on your phone.
The conference in general has been pretty interesting since it gives us ideas on improving the digital competence, so important these days. I did not know some of the things treated on the conference, but the rest sounded familiar. I have an overview of the importance of the digital competence and how to improve on this field. I consider very important the acknowledgement of our own learning and expertise when dealing with interviews or digital activities in the class.
I recommend you having a look to the website of The Portfolio for digital competence of teachers, if you want to know your level, to improve and learn along the digital life we all are living.
I hope you enjoy the resources and get started on the digital field like me.
See you!
